The Gosh! Authority 08.02.23

Hello!

Great signing this weekend for Michael Molcher's I Am the Law, a dig into the terrifying predictive power of Judge Dredd with regard to policing in the 21st Century. Michael will be here with cover artist and designer Pye Parr on Saturday from 1-2pm. Get the details here.

And we've also got Reads, the monthly graphic novel reading group, this Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. The group wil be looking at The Night Eaters by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda, one of our Best of 2022 books. Get the details on that here.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • STORM AND BROTHERHOOD MUTANTS #1 - The Sins of Sinister continue with this X-Men Red replacement as Storm seeks revenge for the destruction of Mars. Al Ewing is joined by the artist Paco Medina for three issues of future-based fun.

  • HARROWER #1 (OF 4) - Justin Jordan and Brahm Revel tell the tale of a generational slasher who terrorizes the youth of Harrow, New York. Alice Young is obsessed with tales of the puritanical killer, the Harrower, but her fascination might lead her to things best left alone.

  • STATIC SHADOWS OF DAKOTA #1 - A fresh start for Milestone's premier hero thanks to Nikolas Draper-Ivy and Vita Ayala. A new menace is at large in Dakota City, the vengeful killer known as Ebon. Virgil needs to stop him when innocent people die in the crossfire.

  • RED GOBLIN #1 - The newest Goblin on the block is Normie Osborn, grandchild to the original. Normie has bonded with a symbiote who he can (mostly) keep under control in his quest to do good. But as an Osborn, can he retail control? Alex Paknadel and Jan Bazaldua have the answer to that one.

  • MONARCH #1 - Rodney Barnes, writer of fan-fave Killadelphia, teams with artist Alex Lins for this tale of aliens invading the streets of Compton, where an orphan boy must learn to fight for the family he has made for himself.

  • LAZARUS PLANET NEXT EVOLUTION #1 - The post-Lazarus Volcano tour continues, with another anthology. This time around we're focusing on a line-up of folks who have new powers and new agendas.

  • BISHOP WAR COLLEGE #1 - Bishop trains the guardians of Krakoa in this all-new title which mysteriously features an all-black team of X-Men. Part of the Marvels Voices initiative, is this some kind of what if styled standalone, a tie-in to current continuity, or something else altogether? They're pretty tight-lipped, so you'll need to pick it up to see! Writer J. Holtham teams with artist Sean Damien Hill.

  • THE EXILED #1 (OF 6) - Wesley Snipes gets into the comics game, co-writing (with Keith Arem & Adam Lawson) this sci-fi noir, drawn by Eskivo. In a cyberpunk future, Snipes-a-like detective Niles "Roach" Washington pursues a serial killer who is ritualistically taking people's spines. To find out why, Roach must get to the bottom of a police conspiracy that seems to be protecting the killer.

And that's it!
