It's Reads, the graphic novel reading group, this Wednesday, 7-9pm, with a tip of the hat to the late, great Marjane Satrapi as the group tackles Persepolis. All are welcome, just swing down and join the discussion!

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• THREE WORLDS / THREE MOONS: FOUNDATIONS #1 - The beginning of a new creator-owned saga by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer, Mike Huddleston and Mike del Mundo. It's a universe of magic and science with a millennia-spanning conflict that is inadvertently reignited by a hapless explorer. This was initially a Substack project which I didn't follow at the time, but nice to see it in print!

• A MISCHIEF OF MAGPIES #1- From the creative duo of Simon Spurrier and Matías Bergara comes their long-awaited DSLTRY mini-series. A boy is drawn into a strange, dark fantasy world where he finds himself immersed in a beautiful, terrible city, filled with strange secrets.

• MINOTAUR #1 - You want more Simon Spurrier? How about this new book with Michael Dowling, set in a world where the future is intruding on the present with spooky, often damaging effect? Gloria Monday investigates these occurrences, looking to get to the bottom of what's really going on.
  

• DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL II #1 - Tom Taylor is joined by Otto Schmidt for a return to the high fantasy version of the DCU. The new League must now face some Atlantean hijinks, while also dealing with a traitor in their midst. Have at thee!

• BANANA NUMBER ONE #1 - Sooo...it's about a 7-foot tall sentient banana who becomes a cultural phenomenon and then stands in the middleground between humanity and fruitkind. Or something like that! Joshua Dysart, Kevin Maguire, Rico Renzi and David Lapham deliver what is certainly a vision, all under a lovely Michael Allred cover.

• PUNISHER VS SPIDER-MAN #1 - Dan Abnett and Matteo Della Fonte journey back to the early days of Frank Castle and Peter Parker's relationship. Forced to work together, the pair have very different ideas about how to deal with the criminal element of NYC.

• SUPER MONDO MEGA MUTTS #1 - Curt Pires and Juan Gedeon tip their hats to the OTT comics of the 80s and 90s with this OTT comic of the 2000s. Four dogs are sent into an anomaly to steal alien technology, but what emerges are four badass canine action heroes. Radical!

• BADROCK #1 - Rob Liefeld teams with artist Seth Damoose for a solo tale of the youngest member of Youngblood. When his mum (mom, I guess) is kidnapped, BR is on the trail!

• KINGDOM OF EARTH #1 - A post-monster-apocalypse tale by David Dastmalchian, Leah Kilpatrick and Soo Lee. When the monsters took over, humans were pressed into servitude. But when Frankie manages to escape, she begins a battle to survive in a world without hope.

• SONIC THE HEDGEHOG X GODZILLA #1 - Speedy hedgehog meets terrible lizard!
