The Gosh! Authority 20.03.24

Hello!

This Wednesday, 6-7pm, we have Ram V and Evan Cagle in store to sign copies of their new book, Dawnrunner! Pop by to grab a signed copy of this great looking mecha sci-fi (and more on that in a moment)! Details here.

Then on Saturday, 1-2pm, we have Chrissy Williams and Tom Humberstone here to sign copies of their new poetry and comics fusion title Introduction to Charts! Details here.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • DAWNRUNNER #1 - Ram V and Evan Cagle suit up for this new series. Set 100 years after an alien species appeared, changing life on Earth, humanity's survival now depends on gladiatorial fights with giant robots, the Iron Kings. A new prototype has been developed which might tip the balance at last. Enter pilot Anita Marr, who represents humanity's best hope for the future. Cagle is doing some seriously lush visuals on this. And don't forget, you can get a copy signed on Wednesday evening!

  • MAN'S BEST #1 - Jesse Lonergan is one of our current favourites, whether doing his own books or collaborating, as in this case with writer Pornsak Pichetshote. Three support pets on an interplanetary mission become their humans' best hope for survival after their ship crashes on a hostile planet. Kitted out with all manner of advanced tech, they take on the dangers of the planet, but the question remains: are the humans, undone by greed and incompetence, actually worth saving?

  • X-MEN FOREVER #1 - Kieron Gillen begins the wrap-up of his Immortal X-Men story as the Krakoan age edges towards its end. Along with artist Luca Maresca, he's pulling together all the threads that have been laid out during his run, and answering some questions that have been outstanding since the very beginning. Big announcements about the future of the X-Men titles late last week (Gail Simone!), so at last we're getting an idea of what comes next!

  • STAR WARS VISIONS TAKASHI OKAZAKI #1 - The most popular of the Star Wars Visions animated episodes gets another comics one-shot from its creator, Takashi Okazaki. We go back in time to explore the origins of The Ronin, the mysterious Sith-slaying hero of the story.

  • WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #1 - Get a glimpse of what's coming in the year ahead for Spider-Man with this one-shot anthology. Featuring stories from Zeb Wells, Alex Segura, Greg Weisman, Steve Foxe, Ed McGuinness and Salvador Larroca!

  • DC'S APE-RIL SPECIAL #1 - Sooo....it's the latest seasonal special from DC where I guess Spring = Apes? I guess I can't begrudge them the pun: I'm guessing someone in editorial gave themselves a pat on the back for this one. It's the usual bumper anthology, this time featuring all of DC's most simian suspects!

  • STAR WARS JANGO FETT #1 - Turn back the clock to the Prequels era for the untold adventures of Boba Fett's dad! Ethan Sacks and Luke Ross do the honours.

And that's the lot! See you next time!
