Hello!

I'm back from New Zealand and ready to sell some comics! In short: lovely time, hellish journey, good weather, excellent pies.

Looking for something to do this weekend? I'll be at the UK Games Expo, but you, my friends, could spend Friday night, 6.30 - 9pm, taking part in our monthly Drink'n'Draw, organised with our friends at Broken Frontier! Guests this month are Katriona Chapman and Candice Purwin, and our cuddly scamp of an artist-in-residence Mark Stafford will be on hand too. Details here.

Then stagger back down on Saturday, 1-2pm, for Candice Purwin's time in the spotlight as we celebrate the release of her stunning new book, The Book of Murmurs! Details here.

Don't forget: your lovely bank holiday Monday has only brought ruin upon us all, as the comics will arrive to go out on Wednesday. As usual, courier willing, we'll get everything out as quick as we can, but best to leave it until lunchtime at least.

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

• FIVE GEARS IN REVERSE HC - Must be time for a new Brubaker and Phillips! And they're sticking with the world of Criminal, as we get the story of how Ricky Lawless and Mallory fell in love. What a lovely couple, I'm sure it'll be a sweet, romantic tale that'll definitely end well!

• DOOMQUEST #1 - When Reed Richards announces his intention to fiddle with time to optimise the future, Victor von Doom decides if anyone is going to fiddle with time, it will be DOOM! Of course it immediately goes off the rails, and he's cast back in time with no armour and no obvious way home. Fun looking mini by Ryan North and Francesco Mobili.

• SUPERMAN FATHER OF TOMORROW #1 - An Elseworlds mini from Kenny Porter & Danny Earls. Jor-El, not Kal-El, survives the destruction of Krypton, landing in the fields of the Kent farm. What effect will a fully grown Kryptonian have on the world, bringing the full weight of his powers and his otherworldly scientific knowledge to bear? Good intentions and all that...

• CONAN & DRAGONERO #1 - Dragonero is one of those Bonelli comics superstars that is totally ubiquitous on Italian newsstands, but which has never really had any traction outside of the Land of Delicious Food. Well, Titan are reprinting one of the fantasy hero's tales where he teams up with everyone's favourite Cimmerian bruiser. Stefano Vietti, Luca Enoch and Lorenzo Nuti do the honours as Conan finds himself transported to the world of Erondár. 

• ELRIC THE SLEEPING SORCERESS #1 - The greatest emo fantasy anti-hero is back in Julien Blondel and Jean-Luc Cano's adaptation of Michael Moorcock's classic Elric novel. Elric is tasked with creating a new champion of Chaos, but needs to be careful lest his definitely-not-trusty sword Stormbringer makes him one first.

• LIFE AND DEATH OF LUCAS DREAMWALKER #1 - Collecting the Hello Darkness serial by R. L. Stine and Francesco Francavilla. It's a supernatual slice of noir pulp, as Lucas Dreamwalker suffers multiple deaths in his dreams, but which will be the final one?
  

• DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MIMI GREEN #1 - There's horror at the heart of the wellness world in this mini by Connor Goldsmith and Josh Cornillon. Cancelled writer Mimi Green retreats from the public eye to a mental health facility after being outed for nasty writings from her past. But at night a hellish version of the centre awaits!
