The Gosh! Authority 14.07.21

Hello!

In case you missed them we had two big product announcements this week. First up, the long-awaited Providence Compendium is coming at the end of the month, and we've got a Gosh! exclusive bookplate for it! Featuring all-new art by Jacen Burrows and signed by Alan Moore, this A5 plate is limited to an edition of just 300, and is available for pre-order on the webstore now

And as if that wasn't enough, Jacen has very kindly offered to raffle off the original art for his insanely detailed piece! Pre-ordering automatically enters you in the draw (unless you wish to opt out, in which case let us know).

And the other big release was this incredible A2 screen print of Nemesis the Warlock, featuring an all-new piece of art by co-creator Kevin O'Neill to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nemesis Book One. This is limited to an edition of 200, and is signed by Kevin. We're taking pre-orders now on the website!

I've been asked quite a bit about what our plans are as covid-related restrictions ease after the 19th July. We haven't finalised anything yet, but we will announce what we will be doing very soon. In all likelihood we'll be recommending (but not requiring) mask wearing and still implementing some kind of numbers limit. Thanks for your ongoing patience as we try to ensure the safety of staff and customers, not all of whom are fully vaccinated yet.

Also apologies if we're a little slow getting to emails and orders this week. We currently have three staff self-isolating after being pinged by the NHS app, so we're stretched pretty thin (and may yet be stretched thinner) until the latter part of this coming week!

Bit of a small week due to a delayed shipment from the US, so a number of due titles will be shipping on the 21st instead. Which means there's not a lot to talk about this week! Shall we take a look?

HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK

  • LILLA THE ACCIDENTAL WITCH GN - The latest book from Ellie Crewes, author of The Times I Knew I Was Gay, one of our best graphic novels of 2020. This time around she's gone down the kids GN route with this tale of a young witch who is struggling with early teen anxieties and witchy magic all at once. None of which is ideal when an ancient witch - Stregamama - sets her sights on the girl. While stocks last we have signed copies of the book available, and be sure to check out Ellie's window painting she has kindly done for us to celebrate the book's release!

  • ALIENS AFTERMATH #1 - Set 35 years after the events of Aliens, the fall of Hadley's Hope is an event that has been wiped from the public record by Weyland Yutani. A group of investigative journalists journey to LV-426 to find the truth, and soon find horrors amongst the bombed colony remains. A one-shot by Benjamin Percy and Dave Wachter to celebrate Aliens' 35th Anniversary (as seen by me in the St James cinema on Courtney Place in Wellington, NZ all those years ago...)!

  • MIGHTY MARVEL MASTERWORKS FANTASTIC FOUR GN TP VOL 01 - The second of Marvel's new softcover repackagings of the Marvel Masterworks line, this time reprinting the first ten issues of the First Family of Marvel. Available in a ginchy new Michael Cho cover (above), or with a more classic Kirby vision (below). At £14.50 for ten issues of Stan'n'Jack goodness, these really can't be beat!

And with that beautiful image in our minds, let's say adieu for this week! See you next time!

Andrew.
